DSIP (Delta Sleep-Inducing Peptide, also known as Emideltide) is a 9-amino acid neuropeptide first isolated from the cerebral venous blood of rabbits during slow-wave sleep in 1974 by Monnier and colleagues. As the first sleep-regulatory neuropeptide to be isolated and characterized, DSIP has accumulated over five decades of published research examining its roles in sleep architecture, neuroendocrine regulation, and stress-response signaling.
